“We launched New Zealand’s first oat m!lk with 50 litres of handmade barista m!lk into The Dispensary Café, Dunedin, in April 2019. We had no idea of how it would be received or if anyone cared about the message we were telling around the need to diversify our farming landscape. Turns out people really did care, and we sold those 50 litres in a couple of hours.
If you could have told us then, that in a couple of years’ time we would be partnering with Twin Agencies and cementing Otis as the premium NZ player in the oat-based goods market, we wouldn’t have believed you. Our story and journey is still being written, and Twin are now characters in the plot. We cannot wait to see what we can do together.”

Otis was founded in 2018 by Tim and Chris, a couple of mates raised on farms in the idyllic countryside of New Zealand. As with all New Zealanders, their connection to the land, the rivers and the mountains instilled a deep sense of pride and guardianship.
So, when they noticed the beautiful heritage farms from their childhood slowly being bulldozed flat and the rivers they once played in as kids no longer swimmable through the rise of intensive dairy farming, they knew their purpose. Cue the mighty oat. A grain grown in rich southern soils to produce the ultimate nutrient dense dairy alternative for the next generation: oat m!lk.
Tim tried his first ‘flat oat’ made from oat milk in London in 2011. Knowing NZ grew world famous oats was enough to plant the seed of an idea and over a few fizzy brews with Chris, Otis was born. Initially, Otis was made in small batches which were hand delivered out of the boot of Tim’s car. Fast forward to today and Otis is right at home in the best cafes, retail outlets and household fridges throughout New Zealand and South East Asia.
Otis produce a range of premium oat m!lks including Barista, Everyday and Chocolate.
